Its aim is to become a regional and national research and educational hub as well as a global innovation leader in novel energy conversion, storage, distribution, utilization, monitoring and control of environmental hazards and advanced application technologies for a more sustainable future.

Brief Introduction

SEE Thrust, as a cross-disciplinary hard science platform, the vision is to become a leading program in cross-disciplinary education and research in sustainable energy and environment area. It provides the dynamic research agenda spans following research areas, where researchers are focusing on next-generation sustainable energy systems with low carbon footprint.

The strategic research areas in SEE are novel renewable and green energy generation, novel energy storages, digital energy/power technologies, advanced energy conversion, smart buildings, air pollution control, and carbon neutrality. SEE will pioneer innovative and cross-disciplinary energy research and will potentially uncover major solutions to the problem of climate change. We will pursue big, ambitious ideas that redefine what is possible. SEE faculty’s research will push the boundaries of fundamental science, applied science, technology, engineering, art and more to solve complex cross-disciplinary challenges and develop useful technologies that can move them from laboratory to commercial and industrial applications.
